Marc Stone CD Release dba PosterLouisiana Red Hot congratulates Marc Stone’s on his new release “Poison & Medicine.”

Marc Stone will host his official New Orleans release party at dba (Frenchman) on Thursday 5/28 10pm featuring an All-Star band w/ special guests Mike Dillon, The Honeypots, Walter “Wolfman” Washington and John Mooney. OffBeat magazine calls “Poison & Medicine” “A watershed moment in Stone’s career…some sort of glorious Elton John/Walter “Wolfman” Washington mashup.”

New Orleans based Blues and Roots master guitarist and songwriter Marc Stone will release his Louisiana Red Hot Records debut “Poison & Medicine” at dba on Thurs, May 28, 2015. Stone’s signing to Red Hot adds him to a powerhouse roster that includes the Honey Island Swamp Band, Ivan Neville and Dumpstaphunk and the New Orleans Suspects.

Stone has long earned a reputation for putting together incredible, one of a kind all star shows, and he’s going all out to celebrate his new CD. Many of the players that grace the album will be on hand. Bassist supreme “The Professor” Jack Joshua, piano master Josh Paxton, the Honeypots, the great Mike Dillon whose vibes and percussion work shine on the CD, harmonica phenom Patrick Williams, Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes drummer Andre Bohren and sax man Brad Walker, the Upstarts and Marc Broussard’s trumpet man Mark Levron, all will be joined by two of Stone’s heroes and inspirations, the amazing Walter “Wolfman” Washington and John Mooney.

“Poison & Medicine” features 8 grooving, soulful originals and one deep cover reflecting Stone’s 20 plus years playing with the masters of Louisiana R&B, Blues, Funk and Zydeco. Stone’s stories, guitar and voice stand front and center as a stellar cast of musicians including percussion wizard Mike Dillon, the Bonerama Horns, the late great tenor sax master Tim Green, members of Galactic, Honey Island Swamp Band, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band give color to the tunes and bring the communal spirit of the scene that Stone has worked in for two decades.

This release caps a stellar first half of 2015 for Stone. With a winter European tour under his belt and another coming this summer, Stone has performed with his band and duo have performed high profile gigs including French Quarter Festival, Tipitina’s opening for a sold out Radiators reunion show, a featured role in the All Star New Orleans tribute to Mad Dogs and Englishmen, performances with Walter “Wolfman” Washington, John Mooney, Leftover Salmon with Bill Payne and Col Bruce Hampton, Marcia Ball, as well as a nomination for Best Blues Artist in the 2015 Best of The Beat Awards.
